We like to think of PUSH as a literary magazine, one with moving parts and built in speakers, and in the tradition of literary magazines it will appear erratically, PUSH3 coming hot on the heels of PUSH2.  That’s because we had a productive autumn.

Four Squad writers developed radio plays for Slung Low Theatre Company with Squad grad and BBC Radio Drama’s Jessica Brown. This November we recorded the plays at Holbeck Working Men’s Club, Leeds,  as one of Slung Low’s 15 Minute Live events, in front of an audience, with live music and all the sound effects created Foley style.

These are great examples of how we work, sometimes slowly, sometimes very fast; as much as a community of artists as a writer development programme; with artists whose work we like, but who understand what we are about and share our delight in the creativity of our Squad writers. Whenever we can, we also like to work with Squad alumni like Jessica Brown, script editor for the radio plays, who have gone on into the industry.
