Katherine Horrex
Katherine is a poet and songwriter, with Growlery, a collection of poetry published by Carcanet in 2020, commended in the Forward Prizes 2021 and a finalist in the Queens Belfast Seamus Heaney First Collection Prize.
Her songs – some of which are available at www.stickpin.bandcamp.com – have been played on the 6music Tom Robinson show and championed by XFM and Inspiral Carpets Clint Boon, as well as DJ and singer of Sophie’s Pigeons, Sophie Sveinsson. She has played live in front of The Clash’s Mick Jones at a Big Audio Dynamite aftershow party, and was invited to play at a Hot Chip aftershow party but unfortunately didn’t see the invite until months after it had happened. Always check your emails.
Her poetry has featured in The Guardian, The Times Literary Supplement, The Poetry Review, Poetry London, Morning Star, among others. She is currently writing her second collection.
Katherine has also worked as a workshop leader and gained extensive experience as a learning support worker in schools, colleges and pupil referral units across Manchester.
