Tallulah Howarth
Tallulah Howarth (she/they) is a poet and multidisciplinary creative based in Leeds, currently studying an MA in Writing Poetry at Newcastle University.
They have previously had publications in Young Identity’s ‘Ecosystems of Fury’, HEBE Poetry Magazine and Now Then Magazine. In 2019, she was shortlisted in the top five for the BBC Young Writers’ Award. Their work is observational, intimate and politically-motivated.
She has been performing poetry since she was 16, and has since amassed experience at many venues in Leeds and further afield. These include a headline On the Mic slot (Left Bank) and a support slot at Leeds Poetry Festival. They have facilitated poetry workshops for both community groups and in educational settings.
She has forayed into lyricism with the riot grrrl EP about foraging, ‘Dog Vomit Slime Mould’, and experiments with looping spoken word soundscapes. She has appeared singing with The Hypocrites, and led local jazz musicians in paying a Homage to Broadcast at Wharf Chambers. They also recorded spoken word with 28-piece Ferg’s Imaginary Big Band; ‘Tallulah Meets the Band’ Pt 1 and Pt 2 were released on a short vinyl run.
