James Leads Criticism Course
James Varney is partnering with Manchester Poetry Library to deliver The Critic Collective, a six-week series of workshops for new and emerging critics. James is Lead Tutor on the project, and will be joined by guest facilitators Khairani Barokka, Kit Fan and John McAuliffe.
The workshops will challenge expectations about what criticism is and can do but, more importantly, approach criticism as a creative practice and draw on art-writing and performance criticism, as well as using poetry as part of reviewing writing, events, recordings and exhibitions, not just books.
Applications are currently open for poets over 18, with an existing writing practice and an interest in critical practice. The workshops will run weekly from 6th March to 10th April. Applications close 22nd February at midnight.
