Squad Days

In the first year of our programme workshops are delivered by our Core Team in Newcastle, Leeds and Manchester. We have made books and sound pieces with Stevie Ronnie, worked on conversations with our literary inspirations and voice with Malika Booker, explored how we keep action moving and writing about the self with Jenn Ashworth, and held a script diagnostic session and experimented in a Disney inspired collaborative process with Emma Adams.

These have been supplemented by a guide to crowd funding with Kickstarter’s Gemma Seltzer and two scriptwriter forums. For the second of these we were joined by critic Lyn Gardner who shared her perspective on the industry, criticism and new work. We have also had a structure workshop led by Mark Catley, and a session on eradicating the slammer’s poetry voice with Hannah Silva put on in conjunction with Durham University Poetry Society’s slam team.
