Hannah Longlisted in Paper Swans Competition

Squad writer Hannah Hodgson has been longlisted for Paper Swans Press’ 2020 poetry competition for her piece, In The Half Light, written during some time Hannah spent in hospital.

“This poet has been inspired by the work of Carole Bromley, presumably her excellent pamphlet ‘Sodium 136’. Like Bromley’s work, this poem doesn’t shy away from the vulnerabilities of the hospital environment, nor does it fall into sentimentality and angst, instead it truly captures the very strange experience of being so close to the bodily functions, the normally hidden routines of others in a hospital environment. This is a well-crafted poem, and very moving,” said judge and author Wendy Pratt.
