Katie Byford Wins Best Writer at BFI Future Film Festival
Katie Byford was awarded the Best Writer Award at the 2022 BFI Future Film Festival for her short You Look Fine.
This was the 15th year of the awards, which recognise and celebrate the work of filmmakers aged 16-25 across 10 categories.
The best writer category was judged by Mike Williams of Sight and Sound magazine, and as the winner Katie will receive £1,000 from the Chapman Charitable Trust, as well as online development workshops from BFI Film Academy.
In You Look Fine, Syd arrives at a GP appointment. As the two speak, lapses, flashbacks, images, and sounds begin to encroach on Syd’s world, while she fights to maintain outward composure. Lying on the examination bed, Syd is met with the reality of what happened that night.
