As the Squad is Stockport’s only Arts Council England portfolio funded organisation, and in a personal capacity, our Director Steve Dearden has been helped create the town’s first Cultural Strategy.

Working with artists, makers, cultural and community organisations, council staff and elected members, voluntary and private sector organisations, freelancers and individuals, we have been determined to build from the bottom up. After a series of public meeting pre-pandemic, Steve has been part of a smaller team writing something that could only be made in Stockport, without jargon and boosterism, in a language everyone can understand.
