Amina Aaliya Beg
Amina is a multidisciplinary artist, writer, director, poet, facilitator and DJ aiming to her my platform in the arts to change the social and political discourse framed around representation for Muslim women. In 2021, she performed her piece ‘Sohni’ at the Edinburgh Fringe and shared spoken word poetry at the Den Festival in Leigh, 2021. Amina has been working as a Drama & Arts coordinator for Let’s Talk Rochdale, facilitating and producing ‘Let’s Talk Zindabad’ at Contact Theatre (June, 2022). She will be working with the Royal Exchange Theatre preparing for the Den Festival in Rochdale in collaboration with Let’s Talk (August, 2024).
In 2023, Amina collaborated with Contact Theatre in Manchester on a short R&D (Research & Development) called ‘The Mecca Line.’ She is currently developing her short film (TV Pilot) ‘Daytimers,’ which she has written, directed, and produced. She is part of Kali Theatre’s 2023/24 DISCOVERY Programme at Leicester Curve, contributing to ‘Hope New Mill which will be performed as R&D in March 2024.
