
Naomi Thomas
Naomi chiefly writes short fiction, but has ventured into poetry in recent years. Her work has explored themes around body image, grief and climate anxiety. She was runner up for the Young Poets’ competition at the Stratford Literary Festival in 2022, shortlisted for the BBC Young Writers’ Award 2020, a senior runner up in the George Orwell Youth Prize 2020, and highly commended for the Young Northern Writers’ Award 2020. Her work has also appeared in Sheffield Hallam’s journal MATTER.
At the moment, Naomi is finishing her degree in English and Related Literatures at the University of York. Through the university, she has been able to participate in the Laidlaw Scholarship and conduct a paid research project on body image and popular film. She has just returned from a year studying in Paris, and has kept a creative blog about her experience (see below).
