Three Word Firsts

Durham Slam Team and Squad members Fahad Al-Amoudi, Kym Deyn and Prerana Kumar have been selected to take part in Words First.

The BBC Radio 1Xtra, Asian Network and BBC Contains Strong Language talent development scheme aims to find the best emerging spoken word talent aged 18-30 in the UK. Selected artists will be given the chance to attend regional workshops in May/June 2019, where they will work with established artists, mentors and regional poetry organisations like Apples and Snakes to develop their work, and be given a platform to perform at regional showcases. There will be a further performance showcase in Manchester in July and the finale of the scheme will be broadcast on BBC Radio 1Xtra from the Contains Strong Language Festival in Hull on 27 September 2019.
